← Search & filter the full LogbookOn 20 July 2026, two Michigan men sailing on the Detroit River capsized their boat near Amherstburg, Ontario. Neither was wearing a lifejacket. A passing boat helped until the Coast Guard arrived, but one man had already gone underwater; he was pronounced dead in hospital. The second man survived.
In late November 2025, the 50-foot French cruising yacht Acteon was on passage from Réunion to Durban when a distress call went out on 27 November, relayed by a cargo ship in the Mozambique Channel about 200 nautical miles northeast of Beira. Both experienced sailors aboard — Deirdre Sibly, 67, of Australia, and Pascal Mahe of France — were found dead, and the yacht was left adrift. The cause has not been explained.
