A capsize puts crew in the water in an instant, often far from the boat and in cold that saps strength fast. The accounts here turn on flotation and being seen — a life jacket that kept someone on the surface, a crew spotted quickly from shore or air. Whether a capsize becomes a rescue or a recovery is usually decided before it happens, by what everyone was wearing.
