On 29 July 2026, a 30-foot catamaran struck a piling near the Manatee Avenue Bridge in Manatee County, Florida, in strong winds from a fast-building thunderstorm, snapping its mast. Marine deputies, lifeguards, and fire crews rescued both occupants; one had a minor head injury.
